Training for Drivers of all Vehicles Carrying Dangerous Goods - ADR

Professional drivers sometimes transport cargo that is classified as dangerous goods. You often wonder when such goods can be transported without special requirements, and when you need to have ADR certification, properly equipped vehicles, or meet additional conditions.

Training is mandatory for ...

ADR training is intended for, and mandatory for, drivers who regularly or occasionally transport any type of dangerous goods defined by law.

Drivers of vehicles transporting dangerous goods must attend the basic ADR training. This training is delivered as an 18-hour course.

Drivers who transport dangerous goods in tankers with a capacity above 1 m³ must take the specialist training for transporting dangerous goods in tanks. This training lasts 12 hours and also includes mandatory practical exercises.

Drivers who transport dangerous goods of Class 1 (explosives) must attend an additional specialist ADR training for Class 1, which consists of 8 hours of instruction.

Programme

  • Basic initial ADR training (3 days)
  • Specialist training for transporting dangerous goods in tanks (1 day)
  • Specialist training for transporting Class 1 dangerous goods – explosives (1 day)
  • Refresher training – basic (2 days)
  • Refresher training – specialist

ADR training usually takes place at the end of the week (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), in the afternoon, and on Saturday in the morning. If you choose specialist ADR training, you must complete additional learning units.
