NVQ Road Inspector

NVQ Road Inspector

To obtain the NVQ (National Vocational Qualification), you must prove that you have the experience and the required knowledge defined in the official NVQ Road Inspector competence catalogue.

After successfully completing the assessment and verification of your skills, you receive a nationally recognised certificate – the NVQ certificate. With this certificate, you prove your competence to perform the work of a road inspector.

Where road repairs are needed, proper road signalling is essential for traffic safety. The work also includes inspecting the components of the road area and the safety zone, assessing traffic safety, ensuring protection and control of areas where maintenance works are carried out, and securing dangerous locations in case of sudden or exceptional events.

Conditions

  • Primary school education (SOK level 2) and an obtained NVQ Road Maintenance Worker, or at least secondary vocational education (SOK level 4)
  • Five years of work experience in the road maintenance field
  • Category B driving licence

Procedure

During the counselling process, the candidate prepares a personal portfolio, which the commission evaluates and partially or fully recognises according to the requirements of the competence catalogue.

Required documents the candidate must include in the portfolio:

  • Application for the procedure
  • CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Copy of formal education proof: primary school education (SOK 2) and an obtained NVQ Road Maintenance Worker, or at least secondary vocational education (SOK 4)
  • Employer confirmation and recommendation proving five years of work experience in the road maintenance field
  • Copy of Category B driving licence

If the commission cannot recognise the candidate’s knowledge and skills based on the portfolio, as required by the NVQ Road Inspector standards, the candidate must complete a practical assessment on the training ground and an assessment in the classroom using appropriate teaching tools, followed by a performance task with an oral explanation.
