NVQ Road Maintenance Worker

NVQ Road Maintenance Worker

To obtain the NVQ (National Vocational Qualification), you must prove that you have the experience and the required knowledge defined in the official NVQ Road Maintenance Worker competence catalogue.

After successfully completing the assessment and verification of your skills, you receive a nationally recognised certificate – the NVQ certificate. This certificate proves your competence to perform the work of a road maintenance worker.

The work includes cleaning traffic areas, slopes, traffic signs and equipment, as well as road maintenance and road improvements, such as road widening and repairing holes and cracks in the pavement.

Conditions

  • At least incomplete primary school education (SOK level 1), proven with a certificate showing completion of 7th or 8th grade of primary school
  • At least one year of work experience in the construction field

Procedure

During the counselling process, the candidate prepares a personal portfolio, which the commission evaluates and partially or fully recognises according to the requirements of the competence catalogue.

Required documents the candidate must include in the portfolio:

  • Application for the procedure
  • CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Copy of a personal ID document
  • Copy of formal education proof: incomplete primary school education (SOK level 1), shown by a certificate of completed 7th or 8th grade
  • Proof of one year of work experience in the construction field

If the commission cannot recognise the candidate’s knowledge and skills based on the portfolio, as required by the NVQ Road Maintenance Worker standards, the candidate must complete a practical assessment on the training ground and an assessment in the classroom using appropriate teaching tools, followed by a performance task with an oral explanation.
